Well, Christina Jones continues to slay the storytelling game. She's back with another hot, intriguing, heart-warming love story - this time it's Steph and Nubia (love the name!).From the very first line in the book, you know it's gonna be on and poppin' with these two. Steph is coarse and a little crude, but in the best, sexiest way possible. Nubia know she's the sh**, and ain't scared to let you know it. Steph's been after Nubia fro a minute, and she's been enjoying the chase. When she finally gives in, the roller coaster ride begins.
Things develop pretty quickly between these two. Secrets are revealed, and then CCJ throws in a curve ball. Once things sink in, she throws another, and you're left reeling. I went through ALL the emotions. But when things fall apart and Steph bears the blame, I must admit that I felt like Nubia should've shared some of it. I understood how she felt, but she was a little too unyielding. When she asks Steph, 'How could you do this to us?', I actually screamed, 'It wasn't just him!'. Yep, CCJ took me there.
I can't write a review for a CCJ book without saying that her dialogue is always so fresh, current, and very, very real. If I could live in one of her fictional towns, I'd jump at the chance, because the people and places are so cool. Very nice to see cameos by old characters, and get updates on what's happening with them. Also nice to meet lots of new characters, who we'll hopefully be seeing more of (Dr. Porsha and Mari, please and thank you).

Amazing. Excellent. I loved this story. This is a story every woman would benefit from reading. The love your man, friends and family. How they support and love you when you are in a time of need. To have a happy ending when something as devastating as cancer strikes and life goes on.
Superb writing by Christina Jones. She brings out the emotional feeling of Nubia and Stephen, I say well done. I also like the way she mingled characters from previous book with this one. This book gets two thumbs up!!
I enjoyed the way the relationship between Nubia and Steph developed. The little back and forth banter and flirting between the two as well as the chemistry that eventually lead them to where they were meant to be. There was a brief time in the story where I didn't see the ending happening the way it did because Nubia was very strong willed and stubborn, but I love how Christina made Steph about actions when mere words weren't enough. In the end this was a beautifully written love story and I'm glad I took the time to read it.
Enjoyed the second book in this series. Nubia is still holding on to old hurt from a previous relationship. This hurt has caused her to build a wall around her heart. Stephen had a tough road ahead of him trying to win Nubia over. However he also knew what he wanted. When Nubia get some unexpected news about her health, Stephen becomes freaked out. His reaction causes her to rebuild that wall again. Will Stephen be able to knock down this wall a second time or will they just call it quits. Read the book. You will not be disappointed.
This book had me at the first chapter and it was FIYAH!!!! Steph had no problem telling Nubia what he desired and needed. I love an Alpha Male who speaks his desires in a good way. This book is not for the faint at heart because Steph goes there with his feelings in an explicit way. As I said, it didn't bother me one bit, I enjoyed the banter and chemistry between the two of them. I absolutely loved Nubia's strength, courage, and determination to keep Steph at bay but after a good dose of eggplant, she had a change of heart. I have never blushed and laughed some much while reading a book. Then CCJ with her dynamic writing introduced us a tragic event that would challenged Steph and Nubia's blossoming relationship that had me crying like a baby. I don't want to spoil the story, so PURCHASE this book. It is truly five stars and more.

I am still very much caught up in my emotions from this read. The all too familiar subject of cancer and how it aggressively seizes upon black women and the toll it takes on us and our relationships was handled with thoughtfulness and care. I was looking for a light hearted read and winced when I saw cancer introduced into the story-line but it was done in such a way that you joined in the fight right along with Nubia and Steph, pulling for their individual and collective triumph! Steph was all of that, oh wee--CCJ writes the best male leads! Nubia eventually won me over but I am so over the once bitten twice shy heroine who constantly runs due to their past. I am also over it taking the heroine half of the book to get it together. Yes, Steph was foul for one particular incident but I was happy when she judged him on the sum total of his actions instead of an isolated mistake. I wasn't mad for how Nubia handled him after that but up to that point, her excuses for not fully receiving all the love he was trying to give her was maddening. The reunion scene (nee eyelashes, hair, etc.) was beautiful and started my water works that I could not turn off. This was a great read and CCJ's writing was stellar as usual!
Nubia and Steph's story was amazing. Steph was all about Nubia in book one. Chasing her hard and once he got a little interest back from her he was on mission to his Nubia. Once Nubia reveals her secret I can see why she kept pushing Steph away. But he continued his pursuit and got under her skin she let him all the way in. He stumbles in the worst possible way to Nubia, she shuts him out. Steph is determined not to stay on the outside looking in and enlists the help of their friends. The supporting cast of characters/friends were well developed. Loved reading this story.
