First published as a serial story in the newspapers, "Julie & The Lost Fairy Tale" is now compiled into the form of a novel for children and young adults. An original and captivating tale, "Julie & The Lost Fairy Tale" follows the relationship between Julie, her grandmother, and a mysterious travel chest. Highly recommended for community library young adult fiction collections. "The suspense surrounding Julie's discovery of the fairy tale—found buried in an old travel chest in her Grandmother's attic—takes readers on an eventful and fascinating journey through time." Cora Niver, NIE coordinator for The Times Herald
"I love it. It is unique and fascinating and the students will love it too." Millie Jedrosko, a school teacher in Olean, NY (Mille tied the story of Julie with literacy history, immigration studies and the use of the imagination in fictional writing.)
"The response Erie Times-News In Education received when we published the serial story, Julie & The Lost Fairy Tale on our NIE Extra-Extra! Read All About It! literacy page was phenomenal. "We eagerly anticipated the serialized stories. Julie & The Lost Fairy Tale was an especially good read, in addition to a fine vehicle for modeling 'showing writing.' The author's use of descriptive language was outstanding!" Pat Gustafson Elementary Teacher in North East Middle School, Erie, PA

Teacher Edition Julie The Lost Fairy Tale eBook Janie Lancaster Karen Kondrat Reviews
This is a wonderful story that let's you get lost in beautiful descriptions of friendships, scenery, and the innocence of childhood. The author does a wonderful job building suspense with her vivid words in a way that makes you feel as though you are right there with the characters. It was a delight, and very refreshing to read this story.
I read an online synopsis of this book and find it is an excellent book for children over the age of seven or eight.
The only criteria I personally have for as good book is "do I get a good picture in my mind as I read?" This one tops the list! Great images as Julie unravels a great family secret. Especially good for youngsters trying to come to grips with growing up and finding answers. I work in the educational field and know that this story would be perfect for elementary and middle school ages. Also included with Janie Lancasters material are great teachers lesson plans. Perfect for class discussions. Enjoy!
If you can recall the sense of awareness you felt as a child, the intimacy with family members, the thrill of climbing into a musty attic, unknown adventures waiting every time you opened the door and went out into the hot summer days, then this book is for you. Julie feels no doubt about her place in a loving family, and finds a way to express that affection in return. Along the way she encounters a bit of history, plenty of memorable characters around town, and a mystery to puzzle out. What more can you ask for in a good book? If you are a parent in search of wholesome reading for your child, look no further.
I bought this book and finished reading it the very same day! The words on the pages flowed so nicely and the chapters are written in such a way that makes it wonderful for classroom reading for children. But it also keeps readers(like myself) interested, since each chapter conveys a complete scene and is full of excitement that leads into suspense to know what the next chapter will bring; and you are not content until you know how things turn out for Julie, her "Grams", and Cordelia! This book contains the beauty and innocence of life that is lost in so many other works we see or read about in today's world; another good reason why this book is a great idea for classroom reading for children. I hope to see more of this author's works published in the near future! )
In the hustle & bustle of today's world it was VERY REFRESHING to be invited into Julie's Adventure! I could readily picture her as she founds the lost fairy tale, struggles to keep her promises & follows her dreams! The character development, exquisite detail in visual imagery & emotion all made me feel as if I was THERE in the story! After reading this I am more encouraged to follow my OWN dreams, though I am an adult. It was inspiring and captivating. Please buy this book & share with your friends & families!
Every kid knows there are treasures waiting for them in Grandmother's attic. When Julie goes up to investigate, she expects to find baby squirrels. Instead she discovers a lost fairy tale.
The original owner of the manuscript came to the United States fifty years ago with the goal of seeing it published. Since she wasn't able to complete her mission, Julie takes over for her, making a promise to see the fairy tale in print.
Julie's quest to fulfill her promise sets in motion her own magical fairy tale. The reader will delight in her enthusiasm and determination in achieving her mission. And this story, just like the best fairy tales, has a happy ending that will leave you smiling.
